Computer wont shut down

hi

im runing windows xp home
On an Advent 900 computer
When i tell the computer to shut down nothing happens
i have to turn it off at the switch

Is that every time you want to close down ?

I take it you are doing Start / Shut Down then selecting Shut Down from the drop down options.

My initial reaction is there is a process that is running that the shut down process can't stop. If this has only just started happening I would try and boot up using a previously successful load. I think that option is available on the Home edition

I got the same problem with my pc too before a month.i tried changing the BIOS,after that I tried to restore back to a later date and its worked fine.
