You can even cut Travertine with a Hacksaw, it's that soft.

I've got some phone calls to make this weekend, there's a few tilers that simply need to be told that a grinder is a quicker way to cut tiles than a wet saw

just what i found with this travertine.
to all the diyers, if you are doing travertine try it with a grinder. no need to add water. you may find as i did that it was alot quicker. because it is very soft some of the 'L' cuts are awkward on the wet saw. by putting it onto a flat board and using the grinder it was less stress on the tile.
not being a 'pro' tiler i dont know what is the best way. just that i found this way easier and quicker :thumbright:

On a serious note, I don't think I've done a great deal of stone on a standard wet saw, I only really use it for ceramics or Porcelain, the radial tile saw is better suited for stone jobs, it's more accurate and the cut edge is perfect.

i meant to add before that obviously if doing neat cuts the wet saw is better. as this floor is having a skirting going on it was fine.
