downlights

Hi guys, can any of you electrician fellows carify if i must use fire rated downlights in a bathroom that has only the loft space above it. i have had a lot of contradictory information about this in the past.

Not a spark but no only restriction would be a sealed shower fitting if fitted above a shower.

You only have to use fire rated downlighters if it is below a habitable space, ie bedroom , if its the loft then no reason too. sometimes the fire rated can types can be useful in lofts as the can helps to keep insulation materials away from the lamp, and causing overheating. As jaeger says, make sure it si the right rating for the zone it is put in .

If it isnt broke dont bloody touch it until it bloody well is and if it is broke then make drawing of the connections before you remove the broken one and replace with a new one LoL

In Scotland (under the Scottish building standards) you need them if there is another dewlling over your property.
If it's your bedroom (or your loft) then you don't
