Just had a look at the link in your first post where you bought it from:
These netbook's are the most solid type you can buy, bomb proof within reason great for throwing in your case and going away, or tough enough to give to a child and very stylish.
It sounds as if it did not quite fit the description of the 'salesman'. :scratch:

Sadly yes and if I had more time I probably would make an effort to get them to at least repair it, but £200 ain't worth the angst although I'd rather send it to Haiti than Acer have it.

Scruff,
You have to consider that it was a reconditioned netbook not a new Acer so, if it is not the sellers responsibility it is down to whoever reconned it, not Acer.
The web site says 'No Returns' which is illegal under the distant selling regulations, so it is the seller who should be getting dragged over the coals not Acer.

Well it's been repaired, the guy phoned my wife today and said she could collect it as soon as she liked. The cost? an outrageous £30.00p :thumbright:
