Can I tile on this plasterboard?
Hi all!
I am new to this DIY business and would like your expert opinion on this. I am about to embark on my first tiling project and after removing the wooden slats covering the wall, this is the condition of the 9mm thick plasterboard. I am hoping to tile from floor to ceiling with some ceramic tiles (so not too heavy).
Do you think this will take the weight?
Would getting someone in to plaster it help?
Many thanks

That board is fooked mate. Rip it off and re-board. Quick, easy, cheap job and you've got a perfect new surface to tile onto.

And if it is a wet area use Aquapanel or similar cement board.

I've bought 5x 8by4 moisture resistant plaster boards. I just hope they fit up the stairs!
You might be able to use this technique- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-0EfIDVcLQ

I didn't watch vid so sorry if this is what it was about.......
Cut board to height downstairs. Then make a cut across the back, halfway, with stanley knife. Fold the front in on itself. carry upstairs, put against your wall and fold it back out and up in position and fix.
