Suitable for Tiling ?

I am re-decorating my bathroom at the moment.
I have removed the tiles from the wall (they were put on around the mid 80s)
The tile adhesive has been removed using a wall paper steamer and a scarper.
The walls are brzze block with a 1/2 inch plaster on it.

Looking at the attached picture you can see some of the top coating of the plaster has come off and there are some traces of the old adhesive left. I intend to fill in the 'holes' with new plaster.

Can I put new tile on them now or do I have to do some more preparation work.
I intend to use average size ceramic wall tiles.

Hi there,

The flatter the surface, the easier it is to tile. If it was me, I'd get it skimmed. You could patch and sand it down - but is it worth the time and effort, and it still won't be as good as a skim?

another vote for reskimming

you cannot beat a flat wall when tiling

just buy a bag of BAL quickset render, then prime the wall with apd primer, and allow to dry before you apply the quickrend, follow the MIs on both products and youll be ok! then tile away!

The Wall is reasonable flat even though the picture does not show it.
