Kitchen Worktop Help!

Post by Scout »

Hi, I'm redoing my kitchen and could do with some advice as to where I can or can't put a worktop joint!

The kitchen is just under 4m in length and in that stretch I have to fit a hob, sink and 3 undercounter appliances.

I am guessing that the join will have to be in one of the small spaces left and not over the appliances?

Any advice gratefully accepted!!

If you haven't already bought the work tops, you can buy a longer length and cut to size....an example (I've not used this site btw)

Being on a tight budget the extra cost is a bit difficult to justify compared to an off the shelf DIY store jobby!
I need a narrow 2m stretch for the other side of my kitchen too so I am gong to have to get 2 bits whatever.
I'll look further into longer worktops but would like to be able to compare all the options.

by this statement you will have 2 options 1m then 3m or 3m then 1m :dunno:
so choose the option that is farthest away from the sink as long as its over a cabinet and hopefully away from the main work area

Maybe buy two lengths at 3.6m (B&Q do them that size at not much more than the 3m ones) if you need more options.

Some worktop makers provide longer lengths. Duropal for example provide worktops in 4.1m lengths.

Even lower quality budget granite is going to be out of his price range.

not sure if he would want to stoop as low as to use spam though.

i would have said that by the time you buy the additional length and then pay somebody to do the proper clamped joint you will spend more than buying one longer 4M length.

unless you were thinking of using one of those horrible jointing metal strips. don't do that because you will regret it, they look dam awful.

if you meant you are putting two pieces in an "L" shape then as above, buy a 3.6M length for the 4M wall as you will have to cut about 150mm off it anyway for a corner join. then join another length to that for the L side.

it might be easier to post a picture of what you have and what you need, we can see then.

MrBrennan. 99.9% of people who post a link like that in their first post turn out to be spammers. It may be that you are the exception.

However, if you read the rules you will see that foul or abusive language is not tolerated on this forum.

Consider this a final warning.

Happy New Year.

EDIT. Whilst I was posting, MrBrennan, Wisely, deleted his post.

The warning still stands.
