This from the days when car ownership was a rarity rather than the norm: just to illustrate that, there were exactly one hundred houses in the street I was born in, and two cars, (a Humber Super Snipe and a Lanchester).
I've not had a bet for years, (except for the N.Lottery), I stopped in 1983 when I'd planned to put a £5 forecast on the Derby - Teenoso from Carlingford Castle - I walked for what seemed like miles to try and find a betting shop and failed. Went back to the job and listened to the race on the radio which I kicked across the floor when the result was exactly as I'd predicted. (9/2 1st & 14/1 2nd).
One day it will all be firewood.

the street i grew up in was great. we played in the street all day long. there was hardly any cars really. and there was houses only on one side. the other side was a hospital. the ingham infirmary.
now that is knocked down. and a housing estate in its place. but the street is always packed with cars everyone that lives therre now must have 2 each or something

weyyy i guess 7 points from 9 available in 3 very tricky games will have to do then....
still we await the club record for away victories which we surely will get this season.
sure we were up for either equaling or beating it tonight.... and its either 13 or 14 wins away in a season.
fulham up next and gain revenge for the opening day defeat at craven cottage. i reaaaaallllyyyyy wanna go to craven cottage one day. been a few times when ive been in london to have a look about and go to the club shop but never on a match day

Re: super excitednesssssss the rafalution is almost upon uss
for once this weekend newcastle united wont have my undivided attention... well unless im at graft and have to listen to it on the radio like...
south shields play coleshill town in the second leg of the semi final of the fa vase. south shields hold a 2-1 lead from the away leg. ive got a ticket. one game away from wembley for my home town team. be awesome if they can complete the job.
for those of you who remember julio arca he now plays for south shields. hes been in the north east now for 17 years. itll be his first trip to wembley if south shields get there. a lot of people say foregners are bad news for football. but then theres the odd one who gets the area they end up at. julio even has a bit of a geordie ish twang to the way he speaks.
if south shields win and book their place at the wembley final im gonna head down there. its not as if newcastle united are gonna make an appearence at wembley any time soon

Hi,
Good luck to your team South Shields on Saturday fin.
I can't believe I'm posting about footie but I know how passionate you are about footie fin. Bron and I have just seen a snippet of BBC News AKA sport; we had been watching an episode of The Walton's on DVD and as I switched back onto TV what a surprise to find sport; I know very little about footie but I reckon the Manchester United manager must be one of the most miserable people on the planet; he sure needs hitting with an happy stick.
I'm about to head into the workshop with a smile on my face; I need my daily fix of the smell of burning metal.
Kind regards, Col.

Hi,
The big day has arrived fin; I bet you can't contain yourself with excitement and are about to burst.
Is it going to be smiles or tears at bedtime?
Kind regards, Col.

well the hotels are booked, the tickets are in the process of being bought. the designated drivers are being named and train tickets are being bought.
south shields 4 - 0 coleshill town
a club record attendance of 3464 and pretty sure a club record 24th win in a row in all competitions.
