New electric hob installation
Ok well looks like I'll be sticking to the manufacturers guidance after contacting them. As of this, I will need to remove a wall cabinet and purchase a smaller one and the cutout will go 3 inches over the cutlery drawer. Will this be OK or will I have to purchase a smaller cabinet to house the cutlery drawer so the hob doesn't sit above it?

Look up Hob Separator Plate to understand likely problem. However I imagine if you isolate, by closed partition that 3inch section of the drawer, it would serve the same purpose; I have used Door Kick Plate for similar jobs, example only S.fix 5759P.

Why did you ask the question "Will it be OK" and did you read the full reasons for fitting a separator which might not apply to your installation? one of which:-
Stops Items From Getting Caught Underneath
Any drawer installed below an electric hob will be open on its top. If your cooking unit has an open bottom, it is possible that knives, forks, or other long utensils will get shuffled around and catch on a loose wire or jagged metal pieces sticking down from the hob. By adding the separator plate, you prevent all that mayhem.

The bottom of the hob is covered anyway and only has the mains cable from the back which won't be anywhere near the drawer. Also the hob will only stick out from the underside of the worktop by a couple milaeromech3 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 10, 2023 12:13 pm Why did you ask the question "Will it be OK" and did you read the full reasons for fitting a separator which might not apply to your installation? one of which:-

Then what if the electrician refuses to install it because its not regulation, even if the new regs state what you're saying?Neelix wrote: ↑Tue Jan 10, 2023 5:22 pmSo take it into account and then ignore it.
