Evening all,
I’ve recently dug out a small area at the front of my house (picture attached). There was a number of bushes and small trees planted there. I’m hoping to pave the area but I’m unsure as to what I need to do to prepare the area before laying slabs. It’s is pretty soft soil as I’ve had to turn it over to get all the weeds and roots out. I’m aware that I’ll have to compact it down, but not sure what’s best to do after that.
Any tips/advice greatly appreciated.
Cheers all
Steve

Advice for a small paved area.
As it's obviously a low traffic area, my guess would be to compact the soil as much as you can, lay weed proof membrane, a 5cm layer of sand then put down your slabs. BUT don't take my word for it, have a look at the paving expert Click me

Advice for a small paved area.
Level the area and compact the soil. Lay a sand base to ensure evenness. Consider using edging stones for a neat finish. If unsure, consult a professional.
