Tiling on a brand new floor

Post by fred99 »

Ive got a tiling job to do for the inlaws. Its in a room thats had a new floor laid after the old one crumbled and lifted due to a problem with ash content in the old floor.

It was dug out to get rid of all the ash (800 mm) then hardcore, concrete and finally a screed to finish it off. The work was done by a mate of mine who's a builder and he told me to leave it 5 weeks or so before tiling.

After the 5 weeks can i just tile straight onto the new screed or is there anything i should do first, preperationwise.

Thanks in advance,

Fred.

5 weeks is fine for screed but concrete needs 7 weeks......just thought I would chuck that in.

Anyway......safest bet is to go with Bal Green Screed Adhesive. reason being that if the moisture content is still a bit high, and without a meter you won't know, this product is specifically designed to cope. Infact you can tile onto screed with this after just 2 days drying.
