Micro Irrigation System

Post by graham101 »

Looking for good quality tubing as my system keeps popping up with leaks (2/3 years old now). Tube size is 6mm external, 4 internal.

Also are they any small jubilee clips for holding this tubing in place, currently using cable ties, but not ideal and does not always stop leaks.

I usually use a jar of very hot water to soak the end of the tube for 10 seconds before making the connection, are they a better way?

Best,

Graham.

This would seem to indicate that you are using plastic tubing - I have always found rubber tubing to be better.

Rubber does not need softening, as it grips the connectors it doesn't need clips, and being more flexible is less prone to springing leaks.

If you get the chance, on holiday or whatever, you'll find a wide selection of components & adaptors in Spanish, possibly south of France, Portugese DIY stores, where they use far more of it than we do in UK.

Concur - you're not wrong, wine~o. Depending on what OP wants to do, an upturned 2 litre pop bottle, with a small hole drilled in the lid, stuck in each growbag, might suffice.

The problem we have found is that we set up the irrigation timer two weeks before we go abroad and adjust it - then while we away either the temperature soars or we have a cold snap. It rarely works unattended.
