Top hat spacers for a plastic cover

Post by topconker »

I have a Mountfield mower I am doing up and have noticed one of the inserts in the top mouling is missing. I've no idea what they are called, maybe top hat inserts but can't find anything on the net. Does anyone know what they are called? They have an ID of 8mm and OD of 10mm with a flange that sits against the plastic.
Cheers,
TC

You're on the right lines with "Top Hat Washers" (they should always be used when fixing mirrors with dome-head screws, which is how I know): also called "Shoulder Washers" apparently.

These people appear to have a selection of sizes, but they're in Australia, someone must have similar in the UK:- https://www.supfast.com.au/washers-and- ... g-washers/
One day it will all be firewood.

I've found some nylon ones, wonder if they may do the job as there's no fuel in the area that could cause a problem?

All the ones I found are bags of 500, admittedly they are only £12 but it is a lot for only needing one

What model mower is it, many places have expanded diagrams with part listings

eg. https://www.worldofmowers.co.uk/mountfield-spare-parts

Thanks Bob, found that, but it only shows the cover which I guess has the inserts fitted as part of the unit

Hi Bob, it's the plaqstic that's held on by 3 self tappers.
Model number RM55.
I's not the standoffs, just the screws that hold it in position.

Thanks jaeger, those are similar to what I have ordered. Here's a couple of photos showing where the inserts fit and a close up of one.
